Dust Jacket

For this print design project, we were tasked with creating a dust cover for a book inspired by a movie. I chose The Hobbit from The Lord of the Rings series, focusing on its central themes of adventure, treasure, and discovery.

The design features a powerful image of a dragon perched on a large pile of gold coins, capturing the story’s core idea of greed, wealth, and the pursuit of treasure. I chose a black background to create a strong visual contrast and added red accents to represent the dragon’s fiery breath and add drama to the design. The gold tones throughout the design highlight the story’s iconic theme of hidden treasure and riches while staying true to the adventurous and magical atmosphere of The Hobbit.

This project gave me the opportunity to explore visual storytelling through thoughtful use of color, contrast, and symbolic imagery. It allowed me to strengthen my skills in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign while translating the story’s themes into a visually compelling and cohesive print design.
